Standard Reading [rules] « Thread Started on Oct 26, 2008, 12:41am »
First off -- the staff of LTC would like to welcome you. As a member of this forum, we look to you to help keep everything running smoothly. So please read the following rules below. Lets get started.
1] Firstly, the number one thing that everyone tends to worry about is: God-Moding. If you don't like it being done to your character, don't do it to others. It's plain and simple, just follow along with the other persons post, but don't add in anything that they DIDN'T do, into your post.
2] Swearing. Keep it to a minimum. Yes, we all swear, but we ask you to not do it excessively. If you see anyone swearing too much, or just overdoing it, let us know by posting in Member Services > Disregard For Rules
3] Be original, and create your own character. We will not tolerate thieves -- if we come to find out the character you're using isn't yours. This goes for any sort of graphics, other than avatars. If you're going to use a graphic that you personally haven't made, please be kind and credit the creator. I myself have had problems with this, and I don't approve of it. Don't think we won't find out if any of what was mentioned above, is happening.
4] When it comes to Role-Playing, do not jump into a thread that isn't specified for your character. OPEN threads are fine, that's why they're open, but if we come to find that you've been interfering with other members and their threads, we will give you a warning.
5] We urge our members to use real people for their play-by's, If you don't know exactly who -- make a thread in the Graphics board asking for some suggestions.
6] When it comes to signatures, don't take images straight off of a site--EG. Google, etc. If you find an image you like, and are wishing to use, please re-size them to be no more than 600x500. If you're having problems with re-sizing or editing the image the way you want it, refer back to the Graphics board, where any of LTC's graphic designers will assist you. As well as avatars-- they need to be either 100x100 or lower.
7] Unlike Invisionfree, Proboards' is equipped wit a spell check button. If you don't feel like using the button, most computers now will underline a misspelled word with red line. Just right click over the misspelled word, and choose the correct one. A few mistakes are bound to slip by, but you don't want members thinking you don't know how to spell to save your life, now do you?
8] As for length of posts, that is up to you and the other person/people you are Role-Playing with. We do however encourage you to post about a paragraph each time, that way you get the chance to role-play with many members, and the length doesn't interfere with that process.
9] BAD EX: I walked through the hall and saw my friend. I waved and yelled "Hey buddy!" Then I walked away.
GOOD EX: Ryan walked through the halls and saw his friend. He waved and yelled, "Hey buddy!" before walking away.
It'd be wonderful if you were a little more descriptive in your posts than this example, but that's the main idea. Everything is to be role-played in third person, if you have something to say that doesn't involve your character, use (( double parenthesis)) so the other person knows you're speaking Out of Character.
10] As for the more mature stuff, we ask that you don't go too deep into detail with it. There are younger members on this site. If you're going to take it that far we ask that you jump over it. Pick up after.
11] Please do not advertise any sites in your signature section, nor in the chat box. We will not warn you the first time you do it, we will just go ahead and ban you for a couple of days. That's what the Advertisement board is for.
Now just follow these simple rules, and we will ALL get along like family, because that's what we're trying to achieve. Now get out there and start what you came here for!
